Dutch startup Sparklab Options is making ready to launch a crowdfunding marketing campaign for Cerebro, a four-node cluster board designed for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, Compute Module 5, and suitable computers-on-modules (COMs), in addition to NVIDIA’s synthetic intelligence (AI) targeted Jetson household.
“Let’s be trustworthy, most growth boards are both too restricted, too fragmented, or simply not constructed with real-world AI [Artificial Intelligence] setups in thoughts,” Sparklab claims by the use of background to its creation. “Cerebro was born from our personal frustration with messy DIY builds and unreliable setups. We would have liked extra energy, cleaner management, and complete flexibility: so we’re creating it.”
Cerebro itself, dropped at our consideration by Linux Gizmos, is a service board for as much as 4 COM boards, designed for compatibility with COMs constructed to the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4/5 normal — which means the CM4 and CM5 themselves together with Radxa’s CM5 and CM5 Lite boards, plus NVIDIA’s Jetson Nano, TX2 NX, Xavier NX, Orin NX, and Orin Nano modules, presumably via using suitable interposer boards to adapt the SODIMM format COMs to 2 high-density board-to-board connectors.
Elsewhere on the service aren’t any fewer than 13 M.2 slots, offering “as much as” three slots to any given node. There’s an on-board gigabit change for inter-node communication with two RJ45 sockets for exterior communication, a USB 3.1 Gen. 2 and USB 2.0 multiplexer with dynamic port task, an HDMI port that may be routed to any given node, a single 40-pin Raspberry Pi-format general-purpose enter/output (GPIO) header plus “lockable IO headers” which have 5 serial, give SPI, and 5 I2C buses, plus one GPIO. There’s an remoted CAN-FD controller, real-time clock, microSD Card slot, and even a nano-SIM slot for elective mobile connectivity.
Sparklab Options is planning to open a crowdfunding marketing campaign for Cerebro on Kickstarter on April thirtieth, with 200 boards reserved for “Tremendous Early Chook” backers; every of those can be priced at €429 (round $490), the corporate has confirmed, COMs not included.
